JEREMY & KUMIKO JENKINS
JEREMY, the son of a Methodist pastor, felt the call of God on his life in high school. After studying at Rhema Bible Training College and Domata Missions School, he felt God's distinct call to Japan at 21 while ministering with his family in Samoa. Jeremy moved to Japan in April 2000, serving first in Chiba and pioneering two church plants in Osaka before marrying Kumiko in 2005. Within a year, they moved to Sendai to pioneer Arise Sendai Church. When the Great East Japan Earthquake struck in 2011, they immersed themselves in relief work, witnessing God's power through countless healing miracles and lives transformed by Christ. In 2015, they joined their network's headquarters in Tochigi, and after a season of seeking God's direction, founded WILDBRANCH in 2021, relocating to Shibuya in 2022. Jeremy's deepest desire is to see Jesus' name exalted and many drawn into genuine relationship with Him. He is the proud father of one daughter and two sons.
KUMIKO was born in Fukuoka and raised in Aichi until age 10, when her family moved to Germany for five years. This transition awakened questions about life and identity in her young heart. Upon returning to Japan, she encountered Jesus through a high school friend, finding in Him the answers to her soul's searching. Kumiko devoted her twenties to living in a Christian community in England, where she deepened her love for God whilst giving herself to street outreach and loving people. Though she had embraced singleness as her path forward, God had rather different plans! In 2008, drawing on her qualifications as a nurse in the UK and experience working in an HIV clinic, Kumiko founded an NPO with a group of women. Through this work, she counseled women healing from post-abortion trauma and hosted an encouraging radio program celebrating the value of life. Kumiko firmly believes that every life has a unique beauty and meaning in God, and it remains her heartfelt passion to awaken people to the reality of loving and being loved by Jesus.
